Angel Tree Program Opens to Help 725 Children in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Salvation Army of San Angelo is excited to kick off its annual Angel Tree program, with a heartfelt invitation to the community to Give with Joy this holiday season. Through this cherished tradition, children in need will receive toys, clothing, and the joy of knowing someone cares.

Thanks to the generosity of local donors, more than 725 children will wake up to gifts under the tree this Christmas—gifts that represent hope, dignity, and love.

“The Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides toys and clothing to children and families who might be struggling to afford Christmas gifts this year,” said Major Alfonso Martinez of The Salvation Army of San Angelo. “Each angel adopted by an individual, family, or community business, is a child whose holiday will be brighter because someone chose to Give with Joy.”

The Salvation Army Angel Trees can be found at local malls and other businesses during the holiday season. Individuals and businesses in the community can adopt "angels," represented by paper angels on trees. Angels will be available for adoption from now through December 16, with gift distribution to area families taking place on December 19.

If you cannot shop in person this year, you can still participate in the Angel Tree program through Walmart’s "Registry for Good" program. Visit https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/walmart-angel-tree/ and search for The Salvation Army of San Angelo to order items that benefit local families. Walmart will deliver these gifts directly to The Salvation Army.

National Red Kettle Kickoff Performer Announced

The National Kickoff to The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign will once again take place during the Halftime Show of the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game. Post Malone was officially announced as the performer on Sunday, less than two weeks before the November 27 game with the Chiefs.

“I'm from Texas. I grew up a Cowboys fan and have been watching this halftime show for years,” said Post Malone. “It's a real honor to be part of the Red Kettle Kickoff with The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys and help bring hope to so many people.”

Malone, who has earned 11 Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, six MTV Video Music Awards, and 18 Grammy Award nominations, will bring his signature blend of country, rock and hip-hop to the stage. Now in its 29th year, the Red Kettle Kickoff is a Texas-sized Cowboys tradition for one of the largest, longest-running annual fundraisers of its kind. The iconic halftime show issues a rallying cry to donate to The Salvation Army’s work in communities nationwide.

“The Red Kettle Campaign is more than a tradition — it’s a lifeline,” said Charlotte Jones, chief brand officer and co-owner of the Dallas Cowboys and former national advisory board chairman for The Salvation Army. “Every ring of a bell is a reminder that small acts of generosity can spark real joy. We’re proud to stand with The Salvation Army once again and are so excited for our biggest fan, Post Malone, to share his immense talent and energy with fans nationwide.”

Since 1997, the Cowboys have had some of the biggest entertainers in the world perform at halftime, starting with Reba McEntire. Others include Randy Travis, Clint Black, Jessica Simpson, Creed, LeeAnn Rimes, Toby Keith, Destiny's Child, Sheryl Crow, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Keith Urban, Enrique Iglesias, Kenny Chesney, Selena Gomez, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Meghan Trainor, Luke Combs and the Jonas Brothers.

As the nation’s largest private provider of social services, The Salvation Army operates more than 7,400 centers across the country, uniquely positioning the organization to address local needs with programs tailored to each community. Relying on the generosity of public support, The Salvation Army provides food, housing and a range of other services year-round to nearly 28 million people.
