SAN ANGELO, TX — After a strong finish to the regular season, the Angelo State University volleyball team will host the Lone Star Conference Tournament this week in San Angelo.
The Rambelles are on an eight-match winning streak, which helped them overcome a 13-7 start to the year and rally to win the LSC regular-season title for the 12th time in program history.
ASU’s rough start to the season dropped the Belles out of the national rankings, but they finished with a 15-2 conference record.
This is also a team that reached the national semifinals last year, and they again seem to be playing their best volleyball when it matters most.
Top-seeded ASU will host No. 8 Texas A&M-Kingsville (18-9) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Junell Center.
The Belles beat Kingsville in four sets last week in their only meeting this season.
Other Thursday matchups include No. 3 West Texas A&M vs. No. 6 Texas Woman’s at 11 a.m., No. 2 Lubbock Christian vs. No. 7 Oklahoma Christian at 1:30 p.m., and No. 4 St. Mary’s vs. No. 5 UT Tyler at 4 p.m.
