'Fire Nico' Becomes Reality as Mavericks Dismiss GM

DALLAS, TX — The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly fired a very unpopular general manager.

Yes, Mavericks fans, the team has dismissed GM Nico Harrison after a meeting with team governor Patrick Dumont.

Harrison orchestrated what was widely regarded as one of the worst trades in pro sports history when he traded superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February. In the aftermath of the trade, some fans were escorted out of Mavericks games after chanting “Fire Nico."

Harrison was in the GM position for four years, and the Mavericks posted a 182-157 record, which included an appearance in the NBA Finals in 2024 and a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2022.

Dallas has started this year with a 3-8 record.

Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi, the assistant GMs, are being promoted on an interim basis.

Dumont will give his reasoning for firing Harrison at a later time.
