Two Texas Basketball Teams Ranked in AP Preseason Poll

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — On Monday, the Associated Press released the initial Preseason Top 25 Poll for the upcoming college basketball season. Only two teams from Texas made the list. Houston is ranked No. 2, while the Texas Tech Red Raiders open the 2025 basketball season ranked No. 10.

Houston finished the 2024-25 season with a heartbreaking loss in the NCAA Tournament Championship game to Florida last season. The Cougars won the Big 12 and finished with a 35-5 overall record.

Texas Tech fell to eventual National Champion Florida in the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament. The Red Raiders finished last season with a 28-9 overall record and in 2nd place in the Big 12.

Houston opens up 2025 when the Cougars host the Leigh Mountain Hawks on November 3. Texas Tech hosts the Lindenwood Lions on November 4.
