FCA Student-Athletes Celebrate Christ at Fields of Faith 2025

SAN ANGELO, TX — Students and student-athletes from all over the Concho Valley gathered at San Angelo Stadium on Wednesday night for the Concho Valley Fellowship of Christian Athletes' (FCA) Fields of Faith. Several speakers and a worship band gave all these students the opportunity to come together for a night of fellowship and worship underneath the stadium lights.

Watch a video of the night's events below:

"You know, our world is in a mess. Things happen.
The division, and this is one night, the kids get to come together," Coach Brett Lang, the Concho Valley FCA Area Representative, said. "They want to come together, and it happens to be about Jesus Christ."

A worship band played in between student guest speakers, and the crowd was unified and electric. It's not often San Angelo Stadium fills up outside of the Friday night lights, but on this occassion, there were thousands in attendance. Just a few weeks after our nation faced serious politically charged violence, the community around the Concho Valley seems to have needed a night like Wednesday night.

"I think it proves that they're looking for something," Lang continued. "I don't know how many kids are here, but there's a bunch. And they're all here for a reason. These kids, there's a different story with every kid in the bleachers. So they're here looking for answers, but [most importantly] they're looking, and that's a good thing.
And we've already heard some powerful testimonies tonight."

It's not every day that Christians from around San Angelo have a chance to gather in these large numbers, and the FCA aren't the only ones who deserve credit for bringing this all together.

"Overall, tonight was just about coming together, doing some fellowship, and some praise for Jesus Christ," Lang said. "These kids have come from churches, and the FCA huddle coaches in their schools have got these kids to a point where a lot of them are ready to make a decision. That's not just the FCA. That was done outside in their schools, and that was done in their churches."

However, this event is not solely for the Christian students in the audience. It is just as much for the ones who are still looking for answers. As humble as Coach Lang was during his interview with San Angelo LIVE!, the FCA continues to be a positive force in our schools, both seconday school and in college. Coach Lang said that without help from the community the FCA's job is almost impossible.

"You know, FCA, we do what we can, but we're not the church. We count on the church," Lang continued. "All these kids that make a decision tonight, I've got to put that together and get everything to the churches. If kids have listed this or that church and they get all the information, I'm going to do some follow-ups. We are going to try to get to them and make these decisions real and make them last."

Overall, Fields of Faith continues to be a chance for all students around our area to gather together and celebrate and praise with each other. It's an event that matters and it is one that is sorely needed in our current national climate.

Per FCA's website: Since 1954, FCA has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high, and youth levels to use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
