This Day Last Year Was Also a Wild One in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — For the second straight year, October 1 has brought a major crime scene to San Angelo.

On Wednesday, police say a 70-year-old man died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after barricading himself during a standoff at the Oak Grove Senior Apartments. A woman was shot in the incident and remains hospitalized in stable condition.

The timing comes exactly one year after two violent incidents on Oct. 1, 2024. That afternoon, two Central High School students were stabbed at the McDonald’s on North Bryant Boulevard, sending one into serious condition.
