SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI — Former San Angelo Central standout Maverick McIvor topped 300 passing yards for the third time this year in Western Kentucky’s 27-22 win over Missouri State on Saturday.
McIvor threw for 317 yards and a touchdown on 26-of-39 passing as the Hilltoppers improved to 4-1.
McIvor also has Western Kentucky off to a 2-0 start in Conference USA play.
The former Bobcat has been outstanding in his first season with the Hilltoppers since transferring from Abilene Christian University, where he led the Wildcats last year to their first-ever conference championship at the NCAA Division I FCS level.
In five games with Western Kentucky, he has thrown for 1,474 yards and 11 TDs with two interceptions on 129-of-192 passing.
Western Kentucky also has wins over Sam Houston State (41-24), North Alabama (55-6) and Nevada (31-16) with a loss to Toledo (45-21).
McIvor and the Hilltoppers will play again this week at Delaware.
