Wall Boys Climb to No. 16 in State Basketball Rankings

WALL, TX — After beginning the season unranked, the Wall Hawks are now up to No. 16 in the state basketball rankings in Class 3A.

Wall moved up four spots in this week’s rankings after going 4-0 last week, which included a win over No. 21 Ponder.

The Hawks are now 17-5 on the season despite a few players getting a late start while winning the school’s first-ever state title in football. Jager Thompson, Landon York and Dylan Sellers are all players from the football team who are still finding their basketball legs.

Wall, which lost in the first round of the basketball playoffs last year, will play its next game at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at home against Grape Creek.

The only other Concho Valley in the state rankings is Water Valley (7-2), which also had a late start due to a successful football season that reached the state semifinals.

Water Valley reached the state quarterfinals last year in basketball and seems poised for another strong season.
