At approximately 8:42 a.m. this morning, the driver of a black 2012 Mercedes-Benz was heading southbound in the 2500 block of College Hills Blvd in San Angelo when he dozed off and drove off the roadway, said Officer Ed Hunger with the San Angelo Police Department.
Officer Hunger said when the 51-year-old man fell asleep, he clipped the utility pole and ran over a construction sign, which woke him up. At that point, the driver immediately tried to swerve back onto the road, but when he did, he hit the embankment curb and flipped his car upside down into the Red Arroyo water.
The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Hunger said, and was transported to one of the area hospitals. The man complained of back and neck pain.
Hunger added that the man will receive no citations because it was a one-vehicle crash with no injuries; however, SAPD may request a medical review on the driver. The officer said when that occurs, SAPD sends information to the Department of Public Safety where officials will make him see a doctor to see if the man “still needs to be driving.”

Is this the same unidentified driver who drove through Peppercorn last year?
