SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo author Ann Parker, whose debut memoir "Follow Me to Alaska" became an Amazon #1 bestseller, is releasing her second book, "Following Alaska’s Call," on Tuesday, August 26.
The new memoir continues Parker’s account of living off the grid in the Alaskan wilderness with her husband, Shon, but returns the story to its roots in San Angelo, where the couple first met at Angelo State University. Parker said the book reflects both the transformative challenges of Alaska and the grounding role San Angelo has always played in their lives.
“Alaska changed us in many ways,” Parker said. “But San Angelo has always been home. It’s where our story started, and it’s where it continues.”
Shon Parker previously served nine years as a San Angelo police officer, and Ann taught at Water Valley Elementary before the couple moved to Alaska. Their experiences in a remote cabin accessible only by airplane became central to her writing.
Follow Me to Alaska reached the top of Amazon’s bestseller lists for its vivid storytelling and portrayal of Alaskan life. Following Alaska’s Call expands that narrative, showing how the call of adventure is always tied to the place you call home.
The book will be available on Amazon in paperback, hardcover, e-book, and with an audiobook to follow.
