New School Zone Added Near San Angelo Central

SAN ANGELO, TX – A new school zone will be activated Monday, Aug. 18, near Central High School to improve student safety during peak school hours, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The zone will be located along the W. Houston Harte Expressway frontage road, commonly known as Caddo Street. Drivers exiting the expressway via the US 277 exit will enter the zone near the intersection of Caddo Street and N. Park Street, extending to Mesquite Street.

When flashing lights are active on school zone signs, the speed limit will be reduced from 40 mph to 25 mph.

TxDOT advises motorists to use caution in the area, watch for crossing students and follow posted speed limits.
