San Angelo city workers will begin replacing an aging 8-inch water main along Sellers Street beginning Oct. 19, and construction is expected to continue for four to five weeks, said a press release Wednesday.
According to the release, the project will extend along Sellers between Norma Street and Paint Rock Road, and affected customers will experience one disruption of water for two to four hours. Darnell Construction, the contractor, will provide 24 hours notice before the interruption.
COSA officials said the impact to traffic will be minimal, but they advise motorists and pedestrians to seek alternate routes to avoid the construction area. Also, if there’s a need to prohibit parking on streets, the contractor will notify residents 24 hours in advance. The release noted that if this occurs, vehicles must be moved by 7 a.m. or they will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Construction will primarily occur between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. In some cases, work hours may extend beyond 5 p.m. for the completion of specific tasks. Intermittent work will also occur on Saturdays, stated the press release.
If residents have questions regarding the project, they are encouraged to contact the Engineering Services Division at (325)657-4201. Additionally, to report water or wastewater service problems, call the Water Distribution Division at (325)657-4295.
