ECTOR COUNTY, TX — A tire blowout on US 385 in Ector County led to a two-vehicle crash Friday evening that killed one man and injured three others, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred at about 7:15 p.m. near mile marker 342. DPS said 22-year-old Carlos Ramos, of Amarillo, was driving a 2015 Peterbilt with a trailer northbound when his truck suffered a front left tire blowout.
Ramos lost control, crossed the center median and entered the southbound lanes, where he struck a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 driven by 40-year-old Jesus Padilla of Andrews.
Padilla’s front passenger, 33-year-old Johnny Saenz of Andrews, was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, where he later died. Another passenger in Padilla’s vehicle, 40-year-old Sergio Mingura of Andrews, was also injured.
DPS reported Ramos, Padilla and Mingura were all taken to Medical Center Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
