Six Quarterbacks from Texas Schools Named to Davy O'Brien Watchlist

 

FORT WORTH, TX — Six quarterbacks from colleges in the state of Texas were named to the Day O'Brian Award Watchlist on Thursday. The Davy O'Brien Award is given to the best college football quarterback in the FBS every year.

  • Arch Manning - Sophomore - Texas
  • Behren Morton - Senior - Texas Tech
  • Sawyer Robinson - Senior - Baylor
  • Josh Hoover - Junior - TCU
  • Kevin Jennings - Junior - SMU
  • Owen McCown - Junior - UTSA

In addition to college programs within the state, several other Texas natives who represent other schools across the country made the watchlist.

  • Braylon Braxton - Senior - Southern Miss - Frisco, Texas
  • Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi - Junior - Colorado State - Aledo, Texas
  • Taylen Green - Senior - Arkansas - Lewisville, Texas
  • Cade Klubnik - Senior - Clemson - Austin, Texas
  • DJ Lagway - Sophomore - Florida - Willis, Texas
  • John Mateer - Junior - Oklahoma - Little Elm, Texas
  • Brendan Sorsby - Junior - Cincinnati - Denton, Texas

The official midseason watch list will be released on October 21, followed by semifinalists on November 12. Finalists will be announced November 25, and the winner will be revealed during The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 11, live on ESPN.

The Davy O'Brien Award is given to College Football's best quarterback each year and will be decided at the 49th annual Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner on February 16, 2026, at The Fort Worth Club.
