City Offices Closed for Independence Day; Fireworks, Pool Events Scheduled

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo city offices will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. A full schedule of events, closures, and fireworks shows is planned across the holiday weekend.

Trash pickup will continue without interruption, though the landfill will be closed on July 4.

Fireworks and Events

The Star-Spangled Banner Concert & Fireworks, hosted by Downtown San Angelo, Inc. and San Angelo LIVE!, will take place July 3 at the River Stage, 16 E. Avenue A. Live music begins during the day, with fireworks scheduled for later in the evening.

Lake Nasworthy’s annual fireworks show is scheduled for 9 p.m. on July 4. Fireworks will be launched from the area near the Goodfellow Recreation Camp. Spectators can view the display from around the lake and tune in to 94.7 KIXY FM for a coordinated soundtrack. The show is organized and privately funded by the Lake Nasworthy Homeowners Association. Drivers are advised to expect heavy traffic in the area.

The City reminds residents that possessing or shooting fireworks within city limits or within 5,000 feet of the city is illegal and punishable by a fine of up to $2,000. To report violations, call the non-emergency dispatch line at 325-657-4315.

Municipal Pool and Fort Concho

On July 3, the Municipal Pool will reopen from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. after normal hours for a sold-out fireworks viewing event. On July 4, the pool will be open for public swimming from noon to 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for ages 3–64, $3 for seniors 65 and older, and free for children 2 and younger. The water slide is operational, but some water features may remain offline.

Fort Concho will host hourly artillery demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 4 at the Parade Ground near Barracks 1. The event is free and open to the public. For details, contact Fort Concho at 325-657-4443.

City Office Closures

The following City operations will be closed Friday, July 4:

  • Animal Shelter

  • City Hall and Community Development Building

  • City Hall Annex (including water billing)

  • Fairmount Cemetery business office

  • Municipal Court

  • Parks and Recreation offices

  • Health Department

  • Southside and Carl Ray Johnson recreation centers

  • Station 618 and Santa Fe Crossing senior centers

  • WIC office

City services will resume Monday, July 7. More information is available at sanangelo.gov/July4.
