SAN ANGELO, TX — A tornado watch is in effect for Tom Green County and 14 other counties in West Central Texas until 10 p.m. CDT Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Tornado Watch 331 includes the counties of Coke, Coleman, Concho, Crockett, Irion, Kimble, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Runnels, San Saba, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, and Tom Green.
Cities under the watch include Arden, Ballinger, Barnhart, Benoit, Brady, Bronte, Broome, Carlsbad, Chappel, Cherokee, Cleo, Coleman, Crews, Echo, Eden, Eldorado, Erna, Fife, Fisk, Fort McKavett, Fredonia, Harkeyville, Hatchel, Hext, Junction, Katemcy, Koockville, Live Oak, Lohn, London, Lowake, Loyal Valley, Mason, Menard, Mertzon, Ozona, Paint Rock, Pontotoc, Pumphrey, Robert Lee, Rochelle, Roosevelt, Rowena, San Angelo, San Saba, Sanco, Segovia, Sherwood, Silver, Sonora, Sterling City, Streeter, Telegraph, Tennyson, Trickham, Valera, Voca, Voss, Wall, and Winters.
The National Weather Service categorized the threat level as “Extreme,” noting an “Extraordinary threat to life or property,” with a possibility of tornado development at around 50 percent. The alert urges residents to remain weather-aware and take action if warnings are issued.
The advisory was shared by the San Angelo Police Department at 2:35 p.m. and will remain in effect until 10 p.m. unless extended or upgraded.
