ABILENE— The Abilene Zoo welcomed an adorable baby porcupine recently.

In a Facebook post, the Abilene Zoo said:

“New Baby Alert! Meet Biscuit, our baby prehensile-tailed porcupine. Biscuit is the son of Sergipe and Triscuit and is the cutest little guy.”

Prehensile-tail porcupines live mainly in South America and have a life span of around 17-27 years. They live in trees, are nocturnal, and are not really aggressive unless provoked. A female sow will carry a pup for 200 days before giving birth and they are monogamous.

Of course, humans are the biggest threat to these creatures as they destroy the porcupine’s habitat and hunt them.
