Owner Tracks Down & Kills Big City Carjacking Suspect

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A carjacker paid the ultimate price Wednesday night when he was shot and killed by the owner of the truck he had stolen.

According to multiple reports, on Mar. 29, 2023, officers with the San Antonio Police Department were dispatched to a shopping center for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, the officers discovered a man that had been fatally shot. The shooting suspect remained on scene as well.

The officers spoke with the shooting suspect and learned that he shot the man because the man had stolen his truck earlier that day. The suspect told officers that he tracked the man down from about 20 miles away using an air tag.

“They tried to confront the suspect who they saw in their vehicle," said Nick Soliz, public information officer with San Antonio police. “I don’t know if an argument happened, but we know that during this time he believes that a firearm may have been pulled by the suspect."

It is unknown if any charges will be pressed on the shooting suspect. As for the victim, he died from his injuries.

“If you are to get your vehicle stolen, I know that it’s frustrating, but please do not take matters into your own hands like this,” said Soliz.
