Babysitter Found Guilty of Capital Murder in Death of an Infant

SAN ANTONIO, TX –– A San Antonio baby-sitter will spend the rest of his life in jail after he was found responsible for causing the death of an infant back in November of 2017.

According to court documents, Miguel Guiterrez was babysitting 11-month-old Xzavier Cortez
and his three siblings when the baby stopped breathing.

When paramedics arrived at the home, they noticed Xzavier had bruising in his abdomenal area. The subsequent autopsy revealed Xzavier died after sustaining non-accidental blunt force trauma.

When questioned by police, Gutierrez denied causing the injuries.

A Bexar County jury found Gutierrez guilty of capital murder last month.  He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
