9-Year-Old Critically Injured at Astroworld Now in Medically Induced Coma

HOUSTON, TX –– As more information continues to surface of the chaos that ensued at Astroworld Festival a 9-year-old victim is now in a coma.

According to the Blount family, 9-year-s Erza was sitting on his father's shoulders when the crowd began to surge forward. The pressure caused the father to be crushed and passed out.

This caused Erza to fall to the ground where he sustained major injuries. He was placed

in a medically-induced due to the traumatic brain injury he sustained.

"During the event at the concert, he had a cardiac arrest which damaged his heart," said grandfather Bernon Blount. "He has damage to the liver, his lungs ... and on top of that, he has swelling on his brain."

The Blount family believes Erza was trampled during the surge.

Erza was originally admitted to the hospital as a John Doe after being separated from his father at the festival.

At this time Erza remains on life supports and his chances for survival are slim.

The family has hired attorney Ben Crump to represent them in a lawsuit against the festival and organizers.

"The suffering that this family is going through is immeasurable," said Crump in a statement. "This little boy had his whole life ahead of him -- a life that is currently hanging in the balance because of the reckless mismanagement that ensued at the Astroworld Festival.'

A GoFundMe has been created to raise money for Erza as he remains hospitalized.
