Women and Child Presumed Dead After Being Swept By Floodwaters

ST. HEDWIG, TX –– After floodwaters in Far East Bexar County swept away several individuals, authorities confirmed a woman and a little girl are presumed to be dead.

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, several vehicles were swept as parents and caretakers were taking children to school. As a result, several people had to be rescued –– including a child from a tree and a car.

According to Salazar, the woman who called in the situation is the one that is believed to be missing.

"It sounds like the woman who is missing was the one on the call with dispatch when the situation was unfolding," said Salazar. "She was physically describing what's going on. It is pretty heart-wrenching stuff."

Authorities believe the two victims were traveling in separate vehicles when they were swept up by the water.

The car in which police believe the child may have been traveling in was found fully submerged. A second vehicle was found partially submerged with the door open.

Sad but if you're not smart enough to not drive through running water, then what happens after that is totally on you and your ignorance........
