Suspect Impregnates Teen He Assaulted for Years

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A San Antonio man is facing serious charges after police say he repeatedly sexually assaulted a teen girl for years.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, 22-year-old Mark Anthony Cardenas began abusing the victim in 2018. She was 14 at the time.

Court documents showed that in April of 2020 the victim became aware she was pregnant. The teen would then give birth to a baby boy in December. She told authorities her pregnancy was a result of the abuse by Cardenas.

The girl was only 14-years-old and she was repeatedly assaulted in San Antonio and Del Rio. The victim also told authorities Cardenas sexually assaulted her multiple times during her pregnancy.

Cardenas was subsequently arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony. His bond is set at $75,000.
