Former Midland Football Player Charged With Capital Murder

 

DESOTO, TX – A former Midland Lee High School football player is behind bars after he allegedly killed a man during a carjacking.

According to the DeSoto Police Department, 34-year-old Randall Thornhill and 29-year-old were waiting in their car at a gate on May 15th.

Police believe 19-year-old Evan McMaryion attempted to carjack the victims when he shot both individuals.

Thornhill was pronounced dead at a local hospital while French was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A five-year-old child that was in the backseat of the vehicle was not injured during the attack.

McMaryion last played as a receiver for the Midland Lee Rebels in 2019.

McMaryion was arrested and charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
