Suspect Shoots at Police Officer Early Monday Morning

 

GEORGETOWN, TX – A Georgetown police officer sustained minor injuries after he vehicle was shot multiple times by a suspect early Monday morning.

According to GPD, at approximately 5:42 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 1500 block of Walnut St. for reports of a disturbance.

When the first officer arrived at Walnut St. a suspect began shooting at the police cruiser with a handgun.

The cruiser was struck multiple times, but the officer was able to back the car up and exit the vehicle. According to police, the officer sustained injuries from the glass breaking.

The suspect, identified as Malcolm Watts, initially disregarded commands, but eventually complied and was taken into custody without further incident. Officers did not fire their weapons during the incident.

Watts was charged with  Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant and Evading Arrest and transported to the Williamson County Jail.

His bond was set at $400,000.
