LEAGUE CITY, TX – A Jack in the Box visit turned violent after a patron stabbed a manager multiple times in League City, TX. According to police, the attack occurred after an argument over face masks.
According to the League City Police Department, last Wednesday night James Henry Schulz entered the restaurant of 45 South without a facemask.
The manager then asked Schulz to put on a mask or use the drive-thru.
"The male belligerently refused and said they did not want to serve him because he was homeless and began yelling that he would be contacting his attorney as he was filming with his cell phone,” said League City Police Chief Gary Ratliff.
Security footage showed the manager showing Schulz the restaurant's written policies as he escorted him to the door.
"The suspect walked towards the door as if to leave. The manager turned his back and the suspect ran up behind him, tackled him, and stabbed him multiple times,” said Ratliff.
According to LCPD, when officers arrived at the scene they found the "manager leaning against the counter with multiple stab wounds."
The victim was rushed to the hospital and is expected to recover.
"There's no reason to let it get to that point. You can refuse to do business at those locations or whatever it is you choose to do, but there is no reason to result to aggressive behavior like this,” said Ratliff.
Schulz fled the scene and remains at large. Police believe he may have used a pocketknife in the attack and Schulz may still have the weapon.
