Terlingua Man Convicted for Hosting Site Featuring Obscene Content

 

TERLINGUA, TX – A 64-year-old Terlingua man has been convicted after authorities discovered he operated a site that shared stories featuring sexual abuse of children.

According to court documents, Thomas Alan Arthur ran the site for more than 20 years and used it as his sole source of income.

The site, named Mr. Double, began operating in 1996 and featured stories depicting the sexual abuse of children, including the rape, torture, and murder of infants and toddlers. 

By 1998, Arthur was charging for access to the site.

According to investigators, Arthur was in charge of reviewing and approving all content submissions made to the site -- including the ones that featured drawings of children.

The site was finally taken down in November of 2019 after the FBI executed a search warrant on Arthur's home.  According to authorities the was hosting the site out of the Netherlands.

Arthur was found guilty after a three-day trial. He was convicted of the following crimes:

  • 3 counts of trafficking in obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of a child
  • 5 counts of trafficking in obscene text stories about the sexual abuse of children
  • 1 count of engaging in the business of selling obscene matters involving the sexual abuse of children

Arthur will be officially sentenced on April 19, 2021.
