Suspect Charged With Murder After Beating 93-Year-Old Man

 

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- A 24-year-old has been charged with murder after he savagely beat a 93-year-old man.

According to court documents,  Guadalupe Andrew Martinez was sitting in his walker in front of the convenience store when he was attacked on August 16.

According to police Martinez was punched and kicked in the head and face by Damian Kay Kay Hernandez.

The assault left him unconscious and caused a severe head laceration.

Martinez would ultimately die a month later while at a rehabilitation center. His death was ruled a homicide after the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death was by blunt force trauma to the head.

According to the convenience store owner, the suspect is a former employee.

Hernandez was initially arrested for injury to the elderly and retaliation. According to police, officers located him walking a few blocks away from his home. He then spontaneously uttered he had assaulted the victim.

He has now been charged with murder and his bond has been set at $500,000.
