Woman Charged After Infant Severely Injured in Crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- An early morning crash left a 3-month-old severely injured after his mom crashed into a concrete median.

According to SAPD, 24-year-old Justine Garcia was driving a Chevy Tahoe on the eastbound shoulder of I-10 when she inexplicably darted across multiple lanes of traffic and slammed into the median wall.

Police believe Garcia was intoxicated at the time of the crash and she has been charged with intoxication assault and marijuana possession. It is unknown what injuries she suffered in the crash.

Her son was not so lucky and suffered a severe head injury and a fractured skull. The baby was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Officers determined the baby was in a car seat, but the seat was not attached properly to the back seat of Garcia's Tahoe.

Garcia's bond was set at $50,000 and she was booked into the Bexar County Jail.
