Elderly Man Burned After Oxygen Tank Ignites

 

SAN ANTONIO, TX – An elderly man was burned after his oxygen tank burst into flames early Monday morning.

According to information from the San Antonio Police Department, first responders were dispatched to the apartment complex around 3:00 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, they located an elderly man sitting in his recliner and on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the neighboring apartments were evacuated as a precaution.

According to investigators, the elderly man was smoking which caused the oxygen tubes to ignite. This caused the man and the recliner to catch on fire.

The elderly man was taken to the hospital in stable conditions. Approximately $20,000 in damages were caused by the fire.
