Border Patrol Agent Finds 40 Illegal Aliens Inside Stolen Horse Trailer

LAREDO, TX — Last Thursday a U.S. Border Patrol agent located more than forty illegal immigrants hidden inside a stolen horse trailer.

According to CBP, the agent observed a pickup hauling trailer inside a ranch northeast of the checkpoint. As the driver attempted to leave through a gate near State Hwy 44, he was intercepted by the agent.

When the agent approached the truck, the driver fled on foot into a nearby brush. As the agent inspected the vehicle, he located one individual in the front passenger seat and forty-two individuals inside the horse trailer.

The subsequent investigation revealed all forty-three individuals were in the United States illegally who originated from Mexico and Honduras.

None of the individuals wore PPE and were medically evaluated before they were taken into custody.

The pickup and horse trailer had previously been reported stolen and turned over to DPS.

“The photos in this incident are clear evidence that smugglers have no regard for the safety of the people they are smuggling and for the public they are putting at risk to potential exposure to COVID-19,” said Laredo Sector Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. “None of the illegal aliens arrested had PPE and were packed close together for an extended period of time.  Whether in a remote ranch area like this or within the city, our agents remain vigilant to stop all threats along our border.”
