Suspect Arrested In Connection to Deadly Drug Deal

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Less than a day after 20-year-old Cyrus Holmes was shot to death outside his home, police have arrested a suspect involved in the case.

According to KABB, late Sunday night Holmes had arranged to meet someone outside. According to police, the meeting was intended to be a drug deal.

According to authorities, witnesses saw Mason Alvarado get out of the car and open fire on Holmes. He struck the victim several times before leaving the scene.

Police found Holmes with multiple gunshot wounds on the sidewalk and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Additional witnesses told police he overheard a phone call between the victim and the suspect and alleges Alvarado intended to buy narcotics from Holmes.

During the investigation, authorities found Holmes and Alvarado had been in contact via Instagram. They used the Instagram account to identify the suspect.

Additionally, text messages between the two put Alvarado at Holmes' house at the time of the shooting.

Alvarado was charged with murder and is being held on a $200,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for later next month.
