KERRVILLE, TX — The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the death of a two-year-old who was injured in Kerrville will be ruled a homicide. The toddler would have turned three-years-old on August 21st.
According to News 4 San Antonio, at 8:55 p.m. on August 6 police were dispatched to a home in southeast Kerrville for reports of an injured child at the request of the Kerrville Emergency Medical Services.
The child, identified as Gideon Barideaux, was transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center before he was airlifted to the University Hospital in San Antonio.
According to KSAT, the exact nature of Gideon’s injuries has not been made public, but authorities confirmed he died from a subdural hemorrhage. A subdural hemorrhage is a blood bleed and typically occurs when a patient suffers a significant head injury.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Gideon was injured while his mother visited her boyfriend.
According to Child Protective Services, the agency did not have any prior incidents with Gideon’s family. But his siblings have been placed with relatives.
