Suspect Indicted on 5 Counts of Crimes Against Minors

WOLFFORTH, TX — A 46-year-old Wolfforth man is facing criminal charges after he was accused of assaulting three victims.

According to KCBD, the victims disclosed the alleged assaults to the Wolfforth Police in February of this year. The suspect was identified as James Haggard.

One of the victims said the abuse had been reoccurring for nearly five years. Haggard denied the allegations and retained an attorney. Additionally, he refused to take a polygraph test.

According to authorities, one of the victims recanted the allegations. Police believe the victim was pressured to change her story by other family members.

The other two victims were interviewed separately by investigators and both of them recounted an assault that occurred in another state.

Haggard has been indicted on five counts. According to the indictment, three of the counts state Haggard knowingly and intentionally penetrated the sexual organ of a child under 14 years of age.

The remaining two counts state Haggard knowingly and intentionally engaged in sexual intercourse of a child under the age of 14-years-old.

He is currently being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center  $150,000 bond.
