Suspect Arrested After Stealing Boy Scout Trailer

 

GARLAND, TX — A 34-year-old man is facing charges after stealing a trailer from the Boy Scouts of America in Plano.

According to NBC5,, the Garland Police Department was investigating Stephen Cook who had attempted to sell a stolen trailer on Offer Up back in June.

On August 10th, officers spotted Cook in a red Dodge Ram pickup just before midnight. Officers eventually lost sight of him.

When officers visited Cook’s house they did not see his truck. Two hours later they drove by the home and spotted a single axle box trailer parked in front of the home.

During their investigation police discovered the trailer belonged to Boys Scouts of America Troop 291. The trailer had been stolen from a church parking lot in Plano just after 1:00 a.m.

Surveillance footage showed a red Dodge Ram arriving at the parking lot without a trailer attached. The footage showed two subjects exiting the truck, attaching the trailer, and fleeing the scene.

Later that day Garland officers saw Cook connect the trailer to his truck and drive away Cook was arrested after the officers conducted a traffic stop.

Cook has been charged with theft and is being held at the Garland Jail with no bond set. Both Garland PD and Plano PD are working on the investigation.
