SAN ANTONIO, TX — A homeowner on a trip to Australia made the startling discovery her hired house sitters were stripping the inside of the home according to an affidavit.
According to My San Antonio, the homeowner contacted police to file a complaint for burglary after she observed Michael Robles, 40, and Monica Caban, 41, removing cabinet and granite countertops from her home.
According to the homeowner, Robles and Caban were supposed to be house sitting. She told police that when she attempted to contact the suspects, they ignored her calls.
On July 1st, police officers arrived at the home but were unable to verify the owners of the property that was removed. On July 13, the homeowner was able to provide digital proof of her ownership of the stolen items.
By the time the proof was presented, Robles and Caban had removed the granite countertops, the oven, all interior doors, washer, dryer, window blinds, and cabinets.
When officers arrived at the scene they found what was described as a “completely empty” house.
"All items whether nailed down, attached to piping or installed by other means have been removed,” said officers in the affidavit. “A shell house in dilapidated and unlivable condition."
Officers also found evidence of a makeshift scaffold they believe the suspects used to attempt to remove windows and an AC unit on the side of the house.
It is unclear at this moment if the homeowner knew the defendants before she hired them to house sit or where she hired them from in the first place.
Robles and Caban were charged with theft $150,000 to $300,000. They are currently being held at the Bexar County Jail on a $25,000 bail.

On a positive note, after reading the article, it seems as though these individuals did *not* remove the kitchen sink.

PermalinkIs a powerful drug. Just look at that mans eyes. He's so high he can see the future, albeit it's not a bright one for him or her.

Permalink..as the famous Aesop's parable, "The Farmer and The Snake" concluded.
Imagine leaving town, and making the harebrained mistake of not only telling these cucarachas that you won't be home, but allowing them to ''house sit'' while you're away.
This peculiarity of gross indiscretion, oddly seems to happen to many people who, save for their sudden lapse of judgement, did quite well for themselves prior to being duped. When heedlessness speaks, opportunists listen.
