Woman Killed By Police After Stabbing Officer at Crash Scene

PLANO, TX — A suspect was shot by a police officer after a car crash turned violent.

According to FOX4, around 7:00 a.m. an officer with Plano PD responded to a crash at the intersection of Legacy Dr. and Independence Parkway. 

When the officer approached one of the vehicles a woman got out of the driver’s seat and lunged at the officer. She then stabbed his left arm.

The officer began to retreat but then noticed the suspect running towards the second vehicle to attack the other driver. 

As the woman was stabbing the other driver the officer took action and fired his weapon. The woman was killed in the shooting.

The other driver and the officer were both transported to the hospital for treatment. The condition of the driver is unknown, but the officer is expected to recover.

"It's difficult when one of your co-workers is in the process of trying to help someone and becomes a victim. We are praying for his safe and fast recovery, hoping this will be something very minor," said Officer David Tilley with the Plano Police Department.

The injured officer has been with the Plano Police Department for more than 30 years.

“This is a veteran officer, been here for many, many years,” Officer Tilley said. “We’re very hopeful that he’s going to be able to recover and we’re thankful the injuries he sustained were not anything more serious.”

The suspect’s name has not yet been released or details surrounding the crash.
