Travis County Sheriff's Office Detective Charged with Assaulting Teen

 

ELGIN, TX -- A detective with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office has been charged with sexually assaulting a child. The detective was identified as 40-year-old Stephen Broderick.

According to KVUE, a 16-year-old disclosed to her mother she had been assaulted by the detective on the afternoon of June 3. After the child came forward a TCSO child abuse detective was called to Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin.

The child underwent a sexual assault forensic exam and certain injuries were documented. In a forensic interview conducted at the Bastrop County Child Advocacy Center the girl’s statement corroborated the injuries that were documented in the physical exam.

Broderick was charged with sexual assault and family violence. He was placed on administrative leave and arrested by U.S. Marshals on June 6. Since that day Broderick remains in the Travis County jail on a $100,00 bond.
