Police: Suspect Killed Teens Because He Believed They Were 'Aliens'

LOCKHART, TX – A 34-year-old Austin man has been charged with capital murder after he gunned down two teens using more than 50 rounds.

According to KSAT, 18-year-old Klayton Manning, a volunteer firefighter for Southeast Caldwell County Volunteer Fire Department, and his cousin 16-year-old Landin Robinson were killed in the shooting last Tuesday afternoon.

When authorities arrived at the scene the shooter was not there. According to police Manning and Robison were riding on a Fire Department ATV when Bryan Haynes began shooting at them.

Hayden then allegedly told his family that “he shot the two aliens that he described as ‘firefighters’ with his gun and emptied two 17 round magazines and two 10 round magazines into the ‘aliens,'" according to the affidavit.

Authorities located more than 50 9mm cartridge casings were at the scene.

Hayden also told family members that the ‘aliens’ would not die, and he had to shoot them in the middle and head area to make sure they would die.”

The family members reached out to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday and provided them with the information Hayden had disclosed. According to the police, the details provided by the family were consistent with their preliminary investigation.

Haynes was arrested on Thursday on capital murder charges and he is currently being held at the Caldwell County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
