Affairs, Baby Mommas, and Guns: The Nina Thomas Ordeal

AUSTIN, TX – The wife of the Baltimore Ravens’ star defensive back Earl Thomas was arrested after she allegedly held Thomas at gunpoint during an argument over an affair.

According to KXAN, police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Brushy Street before 4:00 a.m. on April 13 for a disturbance.

When police arrived, they saw Nina Thomas, 30, chasing her husband with a knife in her hand. Officers observed Earl holding a gun.

Both were ordered to drop their weapons and get on the ground and they both complied according to the arrest affidavit. Earl’s brother and his girlfriend, Earl’s girlfriend, and two additional women were also at the scene.

According to Nina, she and Earl had a fight the day before and she decided to check his Snapchat where she observed him with another woman. Earl confirmed the argument and stated his brother had picked him up and they had traveled to the brother’s apartment.

Earl admitted he was in a romantic relationship with another woman as he “worked on his relationship with his wife.” The girlfriend was with Earl at his brother’s apartment.

Nina told police she grabbed Earl’s gun and was going to the apartment to scare him.

Earl’s brother told authorities he and his girlfriend went to be around 1:00 a.m. but were awaken when three women kicked in the door. According to the girlfriend, one of the three ladies was the mother of her boyfriend’s child. The woman allegedly tried to attack the girlfriend and was removed from the room by Earl’s brother as he wrapped his arms around her.

Nina and the other woman left the brother’s bedroom and went to find Earl. Nina and Earl began arguing and the brother’s girlfriend alleges she heard Earl tell Nina “put down the gun,” and a woman’s voice say, “the safety is off, if you come any closer, I’ll shoot you.”

Nina and Earl began wrestling over the gun and when Earl was able to take the gun away from his wife, she “armed herself with a knife.” The conflict was then taken outside where police found them.

Nina admitted she put the gun to Earl’s head with the safety off while her friend recorded the incident. She alleges that since she had removed the magazine, she did not think the gun could fire a bullet. When police recovered the gun, they found one bullet in the chamber.

Nina’s friend admitted to knowing Nina had a gun to scare Earl, but she also believed the gun wouldn’t fire with the magazine removed. The video footage shows “Nina holding the gun to Earl’s head with Nina’s finger clearly on the trigger and the safety disengaged.”

Nina was charged with burglary of a residence with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She bonded out of Travis County Jail.
