Suspect Arrested After Assaulting Officer

 

GRAPEVINE, TX – Grapevine PD arrested Jonathan Dechoudens after he coughed in an officer's face and claimed he had coronavirus.

According to NBC5, the officer was sitting in a marked patrol car in a parking lot with his window rolled down Dechoudens approached him. Dechoudens coughed in the officer’s face and said he infected with coronavirus.

When the officer confronted Dechoudens, the suspect claimed he was joking. The officer was worried he was exposed to the virus, so he called for additional officers and medics to screen Dechoudens.

Once the suspect was medically cleared he was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat. The charge was later changed to harassment of public servant.

The officer who was coughed on has not shown any symptoms associated with coronavirus and he continues to monitor his health.
