Coronavirus: Austin Police Department Employee Tests Positive

 

AUSTIN, TX – Austin Police Chief Brian Manley has confirmed an employee with the department has tested positive for coronavirus.

According to KXAN, the officer is currently quarantined at home. Chief Manley stated he will not be releasing information regarding if the employee is an officer or civilian or what department he or she is employed within APD. Manley also wouldn’t comment on where the employee may have been exposed to the virus.

APD officers with symptoms may be tested at a site designated for first responders.

The department is expected to release the number of employees that are currently quarantining in the coming days.
