Texas DPS Launches New RSD Connect Online Licensing Platform

AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety has launched a new online platform designed to modernize licensing and regulatory services for several state programs.

The new platform, RSD Connect, is operated through DPS' Regulatory Services Division and is intended to streamline licensing, compliance oversight and regulatory enforcement.

Through RSD Connect, License to Carry customers can apply for, renew or check the status of their handgun licenses online. Instructors can also use the platform to create and manage handgun licensing courses.

The system also allows customers to apply for or renew a Capitol Access Pass, which provides approved applicants with expedited access to the Texas State Capitol through its main public entrances.

DPS said RSD Connect will provide more centralized reporting across Regulatory Services Division programs, increase applicants' ability to track the status of applications and streamline the licensing process in an effort to shorten approval times.

The new platform officially launched Thursday.
