Del Rio Border Patrol Apprehend Three Burglary Suspects

 

DEL RIO, TX- U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Uvalde Station recently assisted in the apprehension of three burglary suspects and recovery of stolen firearms.

“The fast recovery of the suspects and stolen weapons was a great win for the community,” Acting Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak, said . “I am grateful for our agents and the continuous work they do to protect our homeland.”

On Sept. 11, a Border Patrol agent assigned to the Uvalde Station, conducting roving patrol operations, encountered a vehicle matching the description of one involved in a burglary of ranch residence near Uvalde, where two firearms were stolen. The agent, with the assistance of an Uvalde County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a vehicle stop. The driver and the two occupants were taken into custody. Two handguns linked to the reported burglary were recovered. A Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives canine team performed a search of the general area the next day and recovered a third handgun from a previous burglary.

Two male suspects, ages 33 and 27; and a female suspect, 29, were all transported to the Kinney County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.

With hunting season already underway and deer season just around the corner, law enforcement officials remind local residents to safeguard firearms ensuring they are not left unattended, and not to leave keys in their vehicles. Subjects who enter the United States illegally have been known to use any means necessary to further their illicit activity.
