HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Texans will be without one of their top wide receivers for the 2026 season after Jayden Higgins suffered a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday, according to NFL Network.
The injury was confirmed Wednesday by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, who reported Higgins will miss the entire season.
Higgins, a second-year receiver, was selected by Houston with the 34th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He emerged as a key contributor during his rookie season, catching 41 passes for 525 yards and six touchdowns.
The former second-round pick took on a larger role in the Texans' offense following Tank Dell's season-ending injury late in the 2025 campaign. Higgins became a reliable target alongside Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins, hauling in 41 of 68 targets while seeing his role expand during Houston's nine-game winning streak to close the regular season.
Houston moves forward without one of its key pieces ahead of the Texans' season opener at home against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 13 at noon.
