RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State has been picked to finish seventh in the Lone Star Conference women's soccer preseason poll, the conference announced Wednesday.
Defending conference favorite DBU topped the poll with 662 points and 38 first-place votes. Midwestern State was selected second with 583 points and two first-place votes, while Texas Woman's placed third with 581 points and three first-place votes. UT Dallas and UT Tyler rounded out the top five.
The Rambelles are coming off a 2025 season in which they posted a 9-5-5 overall record and finished 8-3-3 in Lone Star Conference play.
First-year head coach Mike Erwin inherits nine returning players from last season's squad and welcomes 13 newcomers as Angelo State prepares for the 2026 campaign.
DBU's McKenna Vela was named the Lone Star Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while teammate Kenzi Tufts earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors. UT Dallas goalkeeper Melyna Martinez was selected as the conference's Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
Angelo State's players to watch include Madison Bourzikas on offense, Ashlyn Vick on defense and Claire Stoermer at goalkeeper.
