SAN ANGELO, TX — The 94th annual San Angelo Rodeo will feature some of the biggest names in the sport and some familiar names from the Concho Valley.
The lineup will include every defending world champion from last year, including all-around cowboy and bull riding champ Stetson Wright.
The other world champions scheduled to be here include Kassie Mowry (barrel racing), Riley Webb (tie-down roping), Statler Wright (saddle bronc), Jake Long (team roping - heeler), Andrew Ward (team roping - header), Tucker Allen (steer wrestling), Rocker Steiner (bareback) and Taylor Munsell (breakaway roping).
The rodeo begins at 7 p.m. Friday at CRC Roofers Coliseum, 50 E. 43rd St., and ends with the finals April 17.
San Angelo will also have some hometown favorites to root for with tie-down ropers Joel Harris, Dylan Hancock and Ty Harris, all of whom finished in the top 10 in the world last season for the second consecutive year.
Joel Harris was fourth, Hancock was sixth and Ty Harris was ninth at the National Finals Rodeo in December in Las Vegas.
It was the seventh straight appearance at the NFR for Ty Harris, and the second time Joel Harris and Hancock qualified.
Hancock won the title at the San Angelo Rodeo in 2024.
Other San Angelo competitors include barrel racers Emma Waldrop and Taylor Baize, tie-down roper Cody Waldrop and team ropers Kinney Harrell and Slash Harrell.
Other Concho Valley competitors include barrel racers like Carlsbad’s Michaela Castro-Delanoe, Miles’ Emily Ward, Eldorado’s Kriss Griffin, Garden City’s Jordan and Jennifer Driver, Mason’s Millie Marquart and San Saba’s Ginger Billingsley and Karen Little; steer wrestlers like Christoval’s Teel Sikes, Coleman’s Walt Arnold, Sonora’s Sam Powers and Ballinger’s Garrett Oates; team ropers like Mason’s Caleb Mitchell and Sterling City's Kelby Frizzell; and tie-down ropers like Sterling City’s Cole Helton and Tate Thomas, Sonora’s Sam Powers, Word Hudson and Craig Leonard, and San Saba’s Cody Little.
There will be 11 performances leading up to the finals April 17, when the top 12 competitors in each event vie for the title.
The all-star Cinch Chute-Out is April 18, while the Tejano Day Extravaganza will conclude the rodeo’s shows on April 19.
