Water Valley Star QB Lacy Commits to Hardin-Simmons University

 

WATER VALLEY, TX — Water Valley High School quarterback Landon Lacy is making the jump from six-man to college football.

Lacy recently announced his commitment to play at Hardin-Simmons University, a NCAA Division III school in Abilene.

Lacy, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete, led Water Valley to back-to-back appearances in the Class 1A Division I state semifinals. 

Last year, he threw for 1,792 yards and 30 touchdowns with three interceptions while completing 72% of his passes. He also had 36 carries for 321 rushing yards and seven TDs.

He was named the Co-MVP of the San Angelo LIVE! All-Cover 1 Six-Man Football Team with teammate Boston Wiese.

As a junior, Lacy threw for 1,803 yards and 41 TDs with three INTs, along with 91 carries for 792 yards and 19 TDs. 

Both years, Lacy was named a first-team all-state safety, racking up a combined 162 tackles and 10 INTs.

The versatile athlete was also one of the area’s better kickers.

Lacy is currently one of the top players on Water Valley’s basketball team, which is ranked No. 20 in the state in Class 1A.
