SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Central junior Ethan Boyd announced his first major college offer Tuesday from NCAA Division I Oklahoma State University.
Boyd, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive lineman, anchored the Bobcats’ offense last year to lead them to an 8-4 record and a playoff win.
He was described by head coach Mark Smith as a “monster dude and a bully blocker.”
Boyd earned first-team All-District 2-6A honors as a guard.
He first broke onto the scene as a sophomore and started all 10 games for the Bobcats, an impressive feat at the Class 6A level.
He appears to have an extremely bright future with his senior season still ahead of him.
Boyd’s offer from Oklahoma State highlights a slew of offers that Central football players have earned recently.
With National Signing Day just a week away, senior linebacker/safety Jaekob Jackson committed to play at Division II West Texas A&M last week.
Senior linebacker Mason Van Sickle has announced offers from Fort Hays State, UT Permian Basin, Sterling, Wayland Baptist, Southwestern and McMurry.
Senior wide receiver Colton Hill has received offers from Angelo State, Mary Hardin Baylor, Avila, Howard Payne, Southwestern and Sterling.
Another senior wideout, Jimmy Edwards, has been offered by Texas Wesleyan, Howard Payne and Sterling.
A third senior WR, Gabriel Garcia, has had offers from Anna Maria, Southwestern, Howard Payne, San Bernardino Valley, Judson and Sterling.
Junior quarterback Micah Smith has been offered by Division I Campbell.
