Mason’s Appleton Earns 9th College Basketball Offer

MASON, TX — Mason High School basketball star Flora Appleton has announced her ninth college offer.

Appleton, a 6-foot-2 senior, was offered by NCAA Division II school Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

Appleton has been offered by five NCAA D-I schools — West Florida, Bellarmine, Cal State Bakersfield, San Jose State and Siena.

The D-II schools that have offered her include Angelo State, along with Chaminade and Arkansas Tech.

Appleton began her high school career at Class 1A Richland Springs before transferring to 2A Mason before her junior year.

Last season, she helped the Cowgirls go 40-2 and reach their first state final in program history.

Appleton averaged 13.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game to earn all-state honors.

During the summer, she had 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Texas Girls Coaches Association 1A-4A All-Star Game in Arlington. She was one of only 24 players in the state who were chosen to compete.

Outside of school, Appleton plays for Phoenix Select Basketball, an AAU team based out of Austin.
