DENVER, CO — San Angelo cowboy Dylan Hancock saved his best for last Sunday at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver.
Hancock turned in the fastest time of the rodeo in tie-down roping in Sunday’s finals with a time of 7.1 seconds to win the event.
The runner-up was reigning world champion Riley Webb of Denton, who had a time of 7.7 seconds.
The 22-year-old Hancock is coming off back-to-back appearances at the National Finals Rodeo, where he finished sixth in the world standings each year.
He wasn’t far off the fastest time in the history of the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, which is 6.8 seconds, set by Marty Yates in 2018.
Hancock will compete at his hometown rodeo in San Angelo, which is scheduled for April 3-19.
